tourism (257)

okay, i know i haven't posted in here for quite some time.
i guess college has kept me occupied with the numerous assignments and as well as trying to balance the favours my parents constantly shove up my ass.

that was excruciatingly exhausting.

anyway, my "new" term ends in a matter of three weeks, and my perception of tourism has definitely changed.
in terms of basics, tourism is practically synonymous to travelling. and with that, it is broken down to different sectors. before i get to that, people would generalize tourism as studying to become either a tour guide, or a travel agent.
guess what, general public, that is what you call stereotypes.
i have met people who study engineering, who actually does badly in math, and another person in business, loathing math.

everyone underestimates tourism, in so many ways.
as a tourism student, it's just sad to see people falling into that trap of never thinking out of the box. these assumptions should be banished from your thoughts.

maybe people who do not study tourism does not realize this, but tourism can be related to any topic in the world. there are so many types of tourism, and you might not even know you were a "tourist".

there is the biggest genre: leisure. then comes the others, such as business, education, and events, in which these could be again be broken down to different categories. that would probably bore you though.

there are so many aspects of the world that contribute to tourism: geography, logistics, business, history, economy, politics, culture, science, psychology and language. i can relate almost all my subjects i've studied in my school years to tourism.

without tourism, what is the world?
would there even be a world?
christopher columbus did travel the world to discover the americas.

the next time you go to an event, especially concerts, maybe you should ask around where they came from.
maybe they're from another part of the city, or the country.
maybe they are from a different country.
and guess what?
that is the beauty of tourism.

oh, and yes, you can become an event manager by studying tourism.
and you can become so many things.

stop undermining tourism students.
